Celebrate the new school year at the annual 'Kits, Cats & Kids Block Party on Thursday, September 13 at the new Fountain Square! From 4:45pm to 7:30pm there will be games, arts and crafts and more filling the street, a performance by the ETHS and NU Marching Bands, pep rally style speeches and DJ music to get everyone dancing!
Come hungry and grab a bite to go from one of the nearby restaurants - Boltwood Restaurant, Freshii, Edzo's Burger Shop, Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Aloha Poke, Trattoria Demi, Koi, Next of Kin or World of Beer or check out the food trucks stationed on Sherman Avenue in front of Rotary International and Beacon Academy. Krave will be serving 200 free hot dogs thanks to sponsorship from First Bank & Trust.
Location & Street Closures
The party will take place at the newly renovated Fountain Square, located at the intersection of Sherman Ave. Please note that Sherman and Orrington will be closed to vehicle traffic between Grove St. and Davis St. Vehicles traveling west on Davis can turn right onto Orrington and vehicles traveling south on Sherman can turn right onto Davis. Parking is available in the Sherman Avenue parking garage, a half block from Fountain Square.
Cheer on the Northwestern and ETHS Football Teams!
Discounted football tickets will be on sale to help fill Ryan Field stadium with a sea of purple for the football game on Saturday, September 15 versus University of Akron. Discounted tickets can also be purchased at NUSPORTS.com with the code PURPLE through Friday, September 14.
The ETHS football game that weekend will be an away game against Barrington High School. The varsity game will be played at 7:30 p.m.
The 'Kits, Cats & Kids Block Party is co-hosted by the City of Evanston, Northwestern Athletics, Downtown Evanston and Districts 65 and 202.
The 4th Annual Evanston Oktoberfest will take place on Sunday, October 14, 1-6pm. The event celebrates Evanston and craft breweries and distillery as well as Chicago area breweries. There will be plenty of delicious food, live music, kids activities, games and more.
