METERED STREET PARKING

Parking meters are in effect from 8AM to 9PM Mondays through Saturdays citywide. The rate is $0.50 per 15 minutes (i.e., $2.00 per hour). Most of the downtown street parking has a 2 hour limit, but there are some areas with 4-hour and 12-hour time limits. Metered street parking is free on Sundays and on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day. Downtown Evanston has zoned pay stations that use license plates to monitor parking time. The pay stations accept coins, credit cards, or you can download and pay with the Park Evanston App. Below are a few tips for using the paystations:
If you are paying with coins or credit card:
- Write down or take a photo of your license plate before going to the paybox because you will have to enter the license plate number.
- Use coin or credit card to pay for your time. There is a 2 hour parking limit in most places, though some areas have 4 hour or 12 hour limits.
- You do not have to display a receipt on your dash board.
If you are using the Park Evanston App:
- Look for the signs with the parking zone number.
- Sign in on the app, enter the zone, select the vehicle, choose your stay and select method of payment.
- Please note that there is no 35 cents service fee if you purchase 2 hours and the 35 cents fee is not applied if you use the Wallet on the Park Evanston App.
GARAGE PARKING

There are three Self-Park garages in downtown Evanston that are open 24/7 and offer long-term parking. Parking in these three garages is free on Sundays and on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day. - Maple Avenue - 1800 Maple Ave. (entrance on Maple Ave. or University Place)
- Sherman Plaza - 821 Davis St. (entrance on Davis St. or Benson Ave.)
- Church Street - 525 Church St. (entrance on Church St. or Clark St.)
Additional parking garages and surface lots are available throughout downtown Evanston; rates and hours of operation vary by location.

- First floor of the Maple Avenue parking garage (enter from Maple Ave.)
- Second floor of the Sherman Plaza parking garage (enter at the corner of Davis and Benson to take the elevator to the second floor)
Please note that it is illegal to ride bicycles or electric scooters on sidewalks in downtown Evanston.
